Quick Office Workout For Busy Professionals

Given how critical fitness is to overall health, I think it is worth looking at certain exercises in the one place where nearly all of us will spend a good chunk of our lives: the workplace. Working at a desk all day has serious side effects on our bodies. Office workout for busy professionals offers great ways to keep your body moving during your busy workday.  As with any exercise regimen, It is important to see your doctor before trying any new workout.

Get Off At An Earlier Stop or Park Far

The first workout starts before you even get into the office.  In case you commute to work, getting off at an earlier stop and walking to work is a great way for you to exercise. You can try walking at a brisk pace or even taking a small jog, but just ensure you don’t overdo it so that you don’t get to work all sweaty. If you drive, park your car in a parking space far from the office so it forces you to do more walking.

Walking and climbing stairs

Stair climbing is a vigorous form of exercise that results in much higher muscle activity. Stair-climbing sessions can improve your stamina, help you burn a significant amount of calories, and save you time on working out. Taking the stairs as just an alternative to the elevator in an office building will help to stretch, build strength, and get some aerobic activity while at work. Instead of sitting down at a table, take a brainstorming stroll with a colleague.

Squats

There are many squat variations. This one is chair squatting. Stand in front of your chair and keep your hands on your hips. Squat down as far as you can go without actually sitting, then slowly return to standing. Repeat this several times.

Stretch

Stretching exercises increase blood flow to the brain and other parts of your body helping you to stay awake.  One stretch is the Windmill.  Stand with your arms to your sides, bend down from your waist and reach for your left foot with your right hand, stand back up and reach for your right foot with your left hand.

Yoga or the Gym

We can make the best use of our time regarding exercise and work, but there are truly no short cuts in life.   With a very busy schedule, it is beneficial to take some off work to let the steam and pressure off. Attending yoga workouts or going to the gym very early in the morning or later in the evening after work can help you gather focus and may actually help you to be more productive at work!  Taking the time to pay attention to your health will help you to function at a higher level.
